Customer has been charged VAT in Sweden
We are a UK based seller, not VAT registered.
We have been contacted by a buyer in Sweden saying that they have been asked to pay 92 Swedish Krona to cover VAT. This amount is roughly equivalent to an additional 85% extra to what they have paid for the item/postage.
Are we liable for this?
Secondly, we sell a few dozen items to EU countries each week and since Brexit this is the first time we have been faced with an issue like this. Is this because these generally go through unhindered, or is there something we are missing here?
Thanks in advance.

Yes.
Yes.
Since 1st January, all items over 22 euro (less for some EU countries) are liable for VAT/import duties etc. Which by Amazon policy you have to pay PRIOR to the buyer getting their parcel.
This means you should ship via a DDP (delivery duty paid) option only.

different EU countries have different rates so its worth checking before you ship to any of them
most of us seasoned sellers have completely stopped selling outside UK altogether
