What is going on with product review?
I’ve been updating our Amazon shop and have found something really odd which I can’t fathom.
On the listing we have quite a few items that say they have a 2/3 star review as average. Yet when we click to look at the reviews it just doesn’t make sense.
For one listing it has 10 reviews of which 8 are 5* and 2 are 4*. Yet the top of the page says we have 2* average.
We are the only person selling this, we have no negative VOICE OF THE CUSTOMER reviews and we don’t sell outside the UK.
Any idea what on earth that’s all about?

Don’t they weight customer’s ratings? I seem to remember that they do and so it isn’t a straight average of the ratings.
Doesn’t quite explain it, but it’s one factor.

Phrases like “The system continues to learn and improve over time.” don’t inspire confidence. As with everything else on Amazon, AI is king and human understanding is out the window.

It’s really odd as a don’t know how you can take a 4* average (there are no reviews below 4) and give the item a 2* rating.
It looks awful, because on the search page it makes the items look way worse than they actually are.
