New Seller - is there really money to be made?

Honestly how successful do people get selling on Amazon? I am intrigued to know the truths. I have a small skin care range I created that I am about to launch. Thank you.

Well if you look at the amount of sellers on here, you can see that there is money to be made.
Do be aware though, study thoroughly exactly what you are doing, before even considering to list.
You must understand the fees.

But I make my living selling on here. It works well, if you understand what your doing and are prepared to put the time in.

We see so many who seem to watch the odd you tube video that says make your million in a week and they fail dismally. Don’t be one of them.

10’s or 100’s of 1000’s of sellers are very successful on Amazon & many of us have been on here 10 years or more & have a good understanding of how it actually works. There are lots of others who it does not work for for lots of reasons, too much competition, they dont have a clue, their stuff does’nt sell well here, they watch spammy get rich quick videos who knows?

Hi there is always money to be made if you have enough money to put in and the right product as I am sure you will be aware Health & Beauty is one massive range and to become a keen player you would have to do a lot of investing and have an incredible product then start listing here.
On the other hand if your products ok you could just get lucky and shift a few a week or a quantity, you need to research about selling on amazon first.

When I first started selling on amazon we had our website up and running first so we already had a decent amount of stock on hand and now we do alright Amazons to be fair it would be more than enough to live on I guess.

One thing I will say is make sure you check your margins for example if you use FBA an item selling for £10 fees are going to be between £4.20-£5.00 in most instances selling self fulfilled 15% + delivery

I think it helps when you are selling something you know something about or is related to something you have done before (which it sounds like you do) rather than scrabbling around trying to find the Next Big Thing.

i started selling fba this year properly and it really depends on how you class “successful” as one person selling 1000 units a month will view someone selling units 100 units a month as less successful but one could be doing it as a passive income and the other a full time job so really depends on your circumstances

i personally do this as a passive income working a full time job yes at the start it was a ball ache and theres always an element of failure but if you believe your products to be better or in demand youll succeed theres alot of great youtube vids i watch which can help alot with starting up and the big dos and donts just ignore the whole “i make 2742891431412million a month heres how crap” and focus on your own goal i currently earn the same amount PROFIT on amazon as i do my full time job to give you an insight and id say that is successful but again making even a £1 profit would be successful
sorry for the massive reply just thought id try help

With regards to the ‘profit is profit’ idea, whilst I agree in principle, it of course depends on how much time that product takes to prepare for fba. If a few seconds, then 50p profit per unit might be ok.

We manufacture our products ourselves and each unit takes a few minutes to make and pack. If we worked out labour costs (which we generally don’t), 50p per unit would be considered a loss.

Don’t get me wrong, we have some units that we make very little profit on (due to the nature of competitiveness on Amazon I guess), but something to think about

Jump in! Go for it! Have a go! Start with a small solid product, learn the ropes, make your mistakes (which you will make, lots of them), navigate the bumps, the turns, the ups and downs…! But most of all try and enjoy the process, learn as much as you can as quick as you can. You can start by registering for a sellers account right now!
If you don’t go, you won’t know! Best of luck!

Yes, make sure you have all the documents Amazon need ready before you launch.
