How's Everyone selling in EU (As UK business) - VAT & FBA etc?
Hi,
I want to expand into Europe - other than Amazon emails telling me we can use their services to register for VAT in all the countries, what exactly needs doing? I have searched for while and cannot find anything clear. Does Amazons service do everything from the amazon account, i basically just pay the VAT bill when needed?
As i understand it - Need to register for VAT in country where stock is stored - 1 VAT number for each country. - what’s the best way to do this? Do i need fiscal representation in each country?
What happens when paying for tax? (income tax) - as a UK business selling in the EU, will only the VAT be due in each country or do they want some of the profit too?
If i use Amazon VAT services, how are people linking that with their UK VAT returns, are you using a separate UK accountant or Amazons VAT services too?
Any pointers where to start will be great.
TIA

Talk to an accountant who knows about VAT, including cross-border transactions, and about double taxation agreements

We use Avask, who are one of Amazon’s recommended EU VAT specialists. We’ve been with them a few years now and they have been pretty good for the most part.
It’s quite a lenghthy process to get VAT registered in all 5 countries that are required. Spain is especially slow and painful. You have to go to their embassy to get certain documents verified, then they have to be notorised by a notary public. Then couriered to Spain. All together it took 5 months to get them all done.
