Return policy and not receiving the product from customer
Can somebody help me understand the return policy.
If I sold and shipped product to US in September, no tracking, shipping takes no more than 2 weeks now which would have arrived before 1st of October and yesterday customer filled in the return request.
If customer has this option is that mean Amz see this as return within 30 days cause they have gave me 40 days to deliver?
Or do they have the option anyway and I need to decide either is within the 30 day return policy or not?
And what do you all do with the return request which they dont actually get back to you?
I had one return already and it doesnt look like the customer will send it back.

I think the 30 day return policy means customer can initiate return within 30 days of receipt - it doesn’t take into account the time it takes to physically get returned to the seller

In the US the returns policy is different. In the US sellers can charge a restocking fee dependant on the reason of return.

Below is the information I found on the Seller-Central forum in the US.
It’s really simple.
If the return reason is the seller’s fault, i.e. item not as described, damaged, etc. you CANNOT take a restocking fee.
If the return reason is the buyer’s fault, i.e. no longer needed, bought my mistake, etc. you CAN charge a 20% restocking fee. Unless it is not returned in the same condition as it was sold, then you can charge up to a 50% restocking fee.
We always take a restocking fee when applicable, because, at the very least, you’re out time and packaging materials. Back before returns were automatically approved, we’d tell the buyers up front that they may be subject to a restocking fee; some chose not to return. Nowadays, Amazon doesn’t tell them and customers choose to file A-Z claims when they see their refunds are smaller than expected, but as long as you defend and cite policy, you will win (we are 4 for 4 since the new policy rolled out).

If you can find the case on this forum where a school ordered 10 printers and did not realise this at the checkout they ordered so many and wanted to return them. An interesting case post by a seller which started alarm bells starting ringing for me. This case goes back a few years.
