Anyone else dealing with ignored safety complaints? Seller lists fake specs — this is a REAL safety issue

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this because we’ve hit a brick wall with Amazon support, and I’m wondering if anyone here has dealt with something similar — or knows what we can do.

We’ve encountered a seller who uses false information on their listings and sells a dangerous product. This kind of misrepresentation could lead to fatal consequences in real-life situations.

So, we decided to test it. Twice. Through top independent U.S. labs. The results? A complete mismatch with the advertised specifications.

We submitted multiple complaints — because this isn’t just about unfair competition, it’s about customer safety. People use this product for camping, survival, construction, etc. One failure could cost someone their life.

Here’s what we tried:

- Report a Violation (but 500 characters isn’t enough, and there’s no option to attach lab results)

- Brand Registry > Regulatory Compliance — no proper response, only copy-paste replies about unrelated issues like account health or patents

- Help chat — same outcome, no action taken

- Emails to Regulatory and Product Compliance — no replies at all

We’ve filed formal complaints with both the CPSC and FTC, including lab results and evidence of false advertising. We received confirmation from both agencies that the information has been officially recorded in their systems. We notified Amazon about this — but unfortunately, nothing has changed.

We have all the documentation ready — lab reports, screenshots, order IDs — everything. But it seems like no team at Amazon is even willing to review the evidence or respond meaningfully.

This is a dangerous precedent. If this continues, why should any of us bother following the rules? Or worse — should we start lying on our listings too just to compete? It’s shocking that Amazon allows this, and we’re extremely disappointed.

We’re not going to let this go quietly. We demand accountability.

If Amazon refuses to take this seriously, we are prepared to go

public, involve the media, and bring broader attention to how critical safety issues are being ignored. That seems to be the only thing that gets results.

If anyone here has successfully escalated a safety-related case — or dealt with a seller gaming the system — please share your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there @Seller_li0aLjl0u7kT8,

I'm sorry you have had difficulties making these reports. Please note that in general you will need to initially report a violation using the Report a Violation Tool as that is the path to make these kinds of reports, the other paths you describe do not take enforcement actions on Sellers and are thus inappropriate to report. If you make a report via the Report a Violation Tool and simplify your report to the limited characters I can escalate further. Please note however I won't be able to share any details on the determination or findings of the team and cannot guarantee the ASIN or the Sellers will be enforced. Please let me know when you have created a report and have a complaint ID to share. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi there @Seller_li0aLjl0u7kT8,

I'm sorry but I'm not able to provide direct communication to internal investigation teams. There are a number of reasons for this, however I can see your documents and reported concerns regarding the safety of this product to the internal investigators. I'm escalating this issue internally with our Safety Risk Team however I won't be able to provide you with any updates or guarantees about what enforcement actions will occur. I will however advocate on your behalf and have provided all of your detailed messaging and all reports to the appropriate leadership. Thank you for your understanding.

Unfortunately, Amazon prefers to ignore such issues, thereby putting honest sellers at a disadvantage.

This is the huge Amazon problem in general, their employees decide absolutely nothing and can't solve anything. The seller breaks US law, conducts a completely unfair competition towards another seller and creates risk to the lives of buyers with a potential fatal outcome. We are talking about a safety rope. Amazon also violates US law by placing this product on its platform and allowing to sell it despite all the provided evidence that the product does not meet its claimed standatrds and description. There are documents from several independent companies confirming this. These documents were filed to the goverment organizations. The interests are represented by authorized lawyers. However, as usual, Amazon does not react, does not offer a solution, cannot guarantee anything. We do not even know, maybe all these submitted cases go straight to the trash bin and never reach the higher level of Amazon support, or maybe they reach them and tehre go to the trash bin anyway? ... SO the question to Amazon is: What do you want and what do you wait for? Until one of the buyers dies, thinking that his safety rope is 1000 lb, when in fact there is less than 500 lb??

Is there some reason you want to get involved in complaining about another sellers account rather than focusing on your business? It might not go well.

So sorry to hear the experience you had. Unfortunately Amazon kind of see you a trouble-maker. They trust their algorithm and robots more than peer sellers. In my understanding, a formal attorney letter might make some difference. Good luck.

We are also dealing with a similar issue where our product require child safety certification and we are the brand owner, but Amazon is allowing other to list the item and we inquire as to exactly how they are able to do this since we didn't authorize it nor provide anyone with our compliance documents, but amazon refuse to address the issue requiring us to do test but which has nothing to do with child safety compliance. The funny thing is they harras us for documents even after they were provided and approve, every few months they're requesting it from us but the unauthorize seller selling fake products are left alone. We made it clear that we will file a suite against amazon if we get caught up in this unsafe practice they allow.
