If i have one listing with 20 variations and half are out of stock how does this search rank?

If i have one listing with 20 variations and half are out of stock how does this search rank?

Does having a listing with many variations affect search rank if many of the variations are out of stock?

Amazon lost my last FBA shipment, with $1,000 sunk in duty fees and shipping costs i can't reclaim.

Now those variations have been out of stock the other items in the listing which normally sell really well have been poor.

Is it possible having these out of stock items in the listing sends the ranking down?
