Winning the Buy Box
We all know that there are various aspects you need to meet to win the buy box. But has anyone else noticed it getting harder for ANYONE to win the buy box. I’m seeing more and more ASINs with over 10 sellers and none get the buy box.
I find it almost impossible to believe that none of those sellers meet the criteria. And in any case, it serves no purpose for no-one to have it as it removes the buy button, requiring the buyer to know to click through etc etc.
I think Amazon have tightened the reins too far on this. I mean come one Amazon, removing the add to cart button from a product page is simply a big no no. ecommerce 101

Amazon have made changes to the Buy Box logic that if the sellers price is above what Amazon think it should sell for then the offer isn’t Buy Box eligable. With some of the products we stock the price Amazon considers a fair Buy Box price is one at which we (and everyone else in our sector) would make a significant loss

The BuyBox position depends on seller’s overall price + shipping, fulfillment method, handling time, Premium delivery options and metrics.
FBA sellers may get the BuyBox with a 30% higher price than you, if you are FBM.
Handling time over 5-6 days will cause you to lose the BuyBox against all other competing offers.
Sellers who offer Premium and Expedited delivery have advantage over merchants without these options.
With ODR over 1% you will lose the BuyBox eligibility.
Also, a sudden increase of price or having an item listed more expensively than what is was sold for at some point in the past will suppress the BuyBox.
Review all offers on your listings to see, if the other sellers appear to have any advantages.

Yes I’m noticing this too.
Here’s an example… B002ZYHL1U. Amazon are keeping the Buy Box for themselves, despite showing “Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months.”. Our offer is the cheapest new, £7 below Amazon, we are in stock and ship via SFP. I get that FBA still trumps FBM/SFP, but with a 10% lower price and stock available for delivery immediately, this doesn’t seem right to me!

Yeah it’s getting crazy with Amazon trying to dictate what you should sell items for.
We’ve lost a load of buy boxes because we aren’t willing to go lower on the price as once you take into consideration the 15% that Amazon want to sell on their platform, giving free shipping, the product cost, labour for dispatching it (FBM), the fact we had to drop the price already to get the buy box from it’s RRP it’s just not worth selling it for a quid or so profit.
