Auto-authorised return for 'Accidental order'
I have just received an email from Amazon saying they have auto-authorised a return for ‘Accidental order’, so since it was an error on the part of the buyer who gets to pay for the postage?

If it comes back, you can deduct the postage cost from the refund

All incidental, not compatible orders fall into the category and buyer responsibility and therefore even though the seller has paid for the return the postage costs can be deducted from the refund. Also take into account whether the order has been returned in accordance with returns policy i.e unused and in a resalable condition with its original packaging and tags etc.
If you are offering a partial refund whether the order has diminished in value its recommended you take a photograph of the order returned and upload the information when offering the partial refund. The information can be assessed by Amazon claims team if the buyer raises and A-Z claim for unlawful deduction. It’s also recommended you advise the buyer of any deductions to avoid issues if any.

If you look at the returns section, click on issue refund, you will be able to see if this return “allows” you to charge for the return label, not all do for various reasons.

I’ve had a couple of these and when I checked the BUYER would have paid for the return. Needless to say the items weren’t returned.

Is there a way to make sure buyers send multiple items back in one parcel ( i.e as received )?
We keep getting people sending items back as single items and are being charged as such. One person stuck 8 return labels on a parcel and our postman scanned all 8.

Oh so it’s over the threshold for a prepaid label anyway right?

Sorry to hop on your post but can someone help me …
We have had to start deducting the cost of the Prepaid Labels from the refund amount (as allowed) because the amount of returns has soared since this new policy was introduced, a lot of our items are low value and we just cannot absorb the cost any more.
I message the customer straight away to explain that a Prepaid label does not mean a Free return, I really do wish that Amazon would make it clear to customers that there may be a cheaper option. A standard second class letter return is 66p whereas they/we are charged £3.30 for the prepaid label. I also send them a PDF of the document stating who is responsible for the return cost.
My question to the forum is how are you deducting the postage cost, the partial refund reason codes don’t mention anything about return postage so I am just at the moment using “Price Match” and putting a note on the order explaining what I have done, is there another way of more accurately deducting this cost that I am missing please?
Many thanks in advance
