Customs Label CN22

So ive just realized ive been complacent with these stickers so ive been reading but most threads are mostly from 2013/4

Which boxes do you tick?
How detailed do you describe item?
If weight is 99g do you put 0.1 kg (does that confuse things as 0.1kg is in higher price bracket)?
Do you state full selling price as value? (ive read several threads of people lying about the value to avoid import taxes)
Have you had issues not using cn22 stickers? (ive sent plenty to norway and jersey and staff never put customs on)

The EU countries are:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (not including the Canary Islands) and Sweden

Which countries need a customs declaration form?
Any country not in the list of EU countries above, including:

Channel Islands – Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Sark
Andorra
Canary Islands
Gibraltar
San Marino
Vatican City State

  1. Other as it’s not a gift
  2. Basic description of the product type, e.g. DVD, CD, Game etc but not title or full description
  3. Weight if 99g would be 0.10kg which is the same price bracket
  4. The price the buyer paid
  5. Depends on the Country, I have never used a CN22 for Norway, often forget also about Jersey, CI, but likely on overseas (outside of Europe) a missing CN22 would likely get delayed in Customs.

you round up to nearest kg… as we sending orders out, it is full value declaration. If you use courier, UPS for example will prompt you to have 3 copies of invoices for those countries that require declaration. RM less so but I think they are planning to move to online declaration.

any countries that is a full EU member do not need a sticker… Norway and Switzerland is not a full member so they need one. Best check on RM site…

i had forgotten to stick one on for a US parcel, it took a few days longer… good job that is tracked… so I know what was going on. Won’t do it again!

The CN22 form is designed for low value items and unlike CN23, doesn’t need to be detailed at all. Just put there the category of the item such as “fashion jewelry” or “clothing”, without describing the exact contents. Then the order total price and approximate weight.

I have personally never put the customs declaration on any European country shipment (EU or not), but you should definitely use them for the Canary and Balearic islands, these regions are known for their customs delays.

Also, according to my experience nothing will happen even if you don’t use them on low value US shipments. But in general, any outside EU country requires the customs declaration.

As people have said above, but keep a check of the Royal Mail website, there maybe changes coming soon.

My CN22 forms are auto filled by Storefeeder and they also have the shipping costs printed on. Apparently this is so the carriers can see that postage has been paid and how much. This is also tying into the online declaration that Onemore mentioned.

ive never bothered with them in over 10 years on the Bay and recently here as a seller. my postage is always a C0 jiffy bag for phone cases and 12x16" postal bag folded in half for clothing.

having said that, in the past it might explain why some customers in countries like South America don’t get their items! perhaps my little old phone case is in a cell somewhere!! Midnight Express!!
