How Can I update or correct my Legal Entity?

Hello Everyone,

I am a new FBA Seller in amazon seller central UK. I opened my seller central (uk) account on 24th June 2022.But did not sell any products till 22rd March 2023. Then started selling on 23rd March 2023. During the seller central account registration time, I choose (type of entity or type of business) as an individual (None, I am an individual) and then most probably (As I cannot remember) Legal Business Name I put DewDropsLtd and choose Business Display Name as DewDrops. At that time my account has been verified (Identity Verification-Passport and the Bank account verification) successfully and the account was activated successfully.

On 26th March 2023, Amazon Payment Team send me an email saying that ‘’ We are contacting you because you have incorrectly selected the individual legal entity during registration of your Selling on Amazon account. To proceed with the account verification, you have to register with the correct legal entity. What happens if I do not update the requested information within 60 days from the first contact (which is 26th March 2023) may impact your ability to sell on Amazon UK and Amazon EU stores’’.

So after that I contacted with HMRC and register as a Sole Trader/Sole Proprietor (registered the date from 16th June 2022 as a Sole Trader with HMRC) to get my UTR Number. As soon as I received my UTR Number I put the information in the Amazon Seller Central Identity Information (Business and Contact Information) as Sole Proprietor and put my UTR Number and put Legal Business Name: My Full Name (As my UTR registration with the HMRC has my full name) and submitted for verification.

But after 10 days I have received the same email from amazon saying ‘’We are contacting you because you have incorrectly selected the individual legal entity during registration of your Selling on Amazon account. To proceed with the account verification, you have to register with the correct legal entity’’.

Also the following information mentioned in my Business and Contact Information section in amazon seller central account.

If you intend to change your company registration number and your company name, you may be attempting to transfer your account to a different company. If this is the case, please go to Transfer Account in the Business Information section and complete the self-service process. Submitting KYC information for a new company without first transferring the account may result in delays to verification and/or suspension/closure of your account.

Now I just would like to get clear that I am a Sole Proprietor with UK HMRC and has my UTR Number. Sorry to asking a number of questions.

How can I resolve the issue If I do make any mistake on my registration process while I was opening my amazon seller central account? Who do I need to speak to about it? How? Is there any telephone number?

Do I need to Transfer my account for changing my Legal entity (As I am a Sole proprietor) correctly?

What is the process of changing legal entity correctly? What is the process of transfer Account?

Do I need to open another account and then transfer it or I just need to click on Transfer Account option (Account Info >Business Information>Transfer Account) and follow the Legal Entity Change Steps without opening another account?

You need to ask seller support to open the option to change your account to a Sole Proprietor.

Have you also taken the Ltd out of your name as you cant pretend to be Ltd when you’re not?

NO, absolutely don’t do that - you will end up with even more problems.
As above reply, you need to open a case with Seller support ’ Help’ and ask them to open up the option to change the legal entity of your account from Individual to Sole -trader. Then you will be able to enter your UTR, but as a sole-proprietor the name should be yours, not a seller name or business name.
