Returned for item no longer in new condition
A buyer bought an expensive collectable item (£95) that comes in its own special sealed plastic bag (and that was sent in separate packaging for postage). When it arrived they said it was too expensive and want to return it. But they have opened the sealed packet and now the resale value is much lower. They also said that once they had opened it they found that a part was missing. I have offered to replace the missing component, or accept it all back for a return, at their expense, and for a 10% restocking fee. The cost to me will be more like 30% since it is no longer sellable as new. The buyer wants 100% refund and for me to pay the pre-paid label. What are my rights here please?

The order should be returned in an unused condition in its original packaging to receive a full refund. If the order does not meet this criteria then the order has diminished in value and therefore the seller can either offer a partial refund of the order or no refund at all. Upload images of the product showing the seller received the order back with reasons for the deductions in the refund.
If a part is missing say a remote control for a TV then the item value has diminished and the product can not longer be used without the remote.

That reason for return is one that should be buyer funded, but sounds suspicious as they knew when they purchased how much it was ?!!
The whole thing sounds odd - a piece missing ? - I may be a cynic, but I wonder if they have that same item, and broken or lost the part, bought yours to replace, and will send it back without that piece.
