No Reimbursement in Customer damaged Unit
Hi Folks,
A customer returned a unit for the reason “Unauthorised purchase”. Amazon had already refunded the order. Yesterday, the unit was returned back to Amazon FC. Today, I got email from Amazon stating that the unit has been damaged by Customer and is unsellable, so I need to create removal order. As per my understanding, the customer should be charged back for the refunded amount and I should be reimbursed. However, upon checking in “Help”, I found out Amazon has mentioned it to be not eligible for reimbursement.
So technically the item was sold for e.g. 39 GBP, the customer was returned the amount and I was charged along with refund commission and refunded the amount to customer. On top of it, the cost of unit is there which is another addition.
As per Amazon policy, I did not understand as in one paragraph it states “If we determine that it is unsellable (defective or damaged, for example), we assess who caused the damage (Amazon or the customer). Then we decide if you are eligible for a reimbursement.
Amazon does not accept responsibility nor reimburse for returned items that are damaged by a customer, subject to recall, are defective or in violation of Amazon policies, or other similar reasons. We add these items to your unfulfillable inventory when they are returned.”
In my case, the item is damaged by customer, so if Amazon does not take responsibility to reimburse it to seller then why it can reimburse/refund customer only.
Is there any way to ask for reimbursement or it is end of story.

No, the cost of the unit is part of the £39 selling price
