Postage costs do not match reality
So I sold a book and the buyer was in Germany. The postage cost was more than the actual cost of everything. Would it have been prudent to cancel the sale? How is it we can’t claim full; postage for overseas sales. Or is it lesson learnt and work out internationally postage cost and incorporate into price. This would mean most books would be too expensive and unfairly penalise UK sellers.

You can set your own postage costs if you are on a professional seller plan

The shipping credits for individual sellers haven’t matched the real cost for many years and you either need to up your price to incorporate it, sell to uk only or, upgrade to Pro plan and set your own costs
You can cancel the order but only if your sales are high enough to counteract the defect

Just to agree with above.
If you are on the Professional Selling Plan (£30 a month) you can set your shipping costs, so can set at appropriate level for each country, but if you are not on the Pro plan then you have to go with Amazon’s default, and as said, has not been in line with the real costs for years, not just overseas, but UK also.
Many have stopped selling overseas for that very reason.
You need to be sure that when you list books for sale you do not enable overseas shipping.
For ones already listed, if you did allow overseas, then you will need to go into each one and untick the box.
You can, but if you cancel too many then you risk account suspension due to poor cancellation rate.

Thanks for your responses folks. I’m not on a pro plan so will set the remaining books onto no overseas sales. Appreciate your time and advice.
