Outstanding sums
After a decade or so, I have finally had enough of jumping through ridiculous hoops on Amazon.
The straw that broke me was the sudden necessity to verify my account after all of this time (of course, I have been ‘verified’ before, and nothing changed at my end), culminating in confusing messages about required documents that have been uploaded and comply with all requirements, poor response to customer service requests etc.
However, they are currently hanging on to about £90 of mine, so I guess the question is; how do I get that money before I close my account with Amazon? Because I’ve requested it to be paid, but they are ignoring that request, despite my bank and myself being verified.
Any advice appreciated

Unfortunately you probably need to be verified to get the money
Reverification is usually straight forward
STs and partnerships need a UTR confirmation from HMRC that’s recently dated
You can call them and they’ll send one straight out
They know amazon frequently ask for these

Thank you for the quick response. I actually got them to call me but they couldn’t answer the question and had to kick my query on to someone else (to not answer, no doubt).
It really seems to me that Amazon have gone out of their way in the past couple of years to put sellers off from their marketplace. There’s obviously a plan revolving around their bottom line, but I’m done with it, the hoops, the ridiculous cancelling of sales for illogical and palpably incorrect reasons. I think I’d sooner give up the £90 than play around with these A*** any more.

And you only have to read through the huge ‘Disbursements Withheld’ thread to see the amount of NETP’s and business sellers who don’t actually realise what their UK tax liabilities are.
I know it looks like there are a few who have been caught up in it due to clerical issues but at the same time there are a lot of sellers who haven’t been paying what they should and will now have to.

“there are a lot of sellers who haven’t been paying what they should…” How do you know that? You can only be making an assumption, based on your opinion of every other seller’s tax matters.

FYI for everyone wanting to ring HMRC helpline, you can’t until September!
The UK Government are trialling not having their phones on in summer, and pushing you to digital resources (which do not include an easy way to get a UTR letter.
