GS1 codes continually not accepted by system or staff

Fellow Sellers

I have been a seller on Amazon for 7 years. I have created over 200 listings for the Amazon catalogue and have actively updated details for products already on Amazon.

I cannot get anywhere with the support associates regarding the system mis-recognising the following error for a new number and I am experiencing blocks with numbers I added years ago to the amazon catalogue

“You are using UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ASINs, or JAN codes that do not match the products you are trying to list. If you believe you have reached this message in error, please contact Seller Support.”

I have spoken to GS1 and they have told me Amazon has a legal responsibility to accept my number

How do I solve this? How do i get my new listing product offer added to the catalogue so i can send my stock to fba? :pray:t5::pray:t5::pray:t5:

Have you tried a search on Amazon for the Ean number?
I have a sneaking suspicion, that they are being used for something else.

Do you have a screenshot of the error?

I’m pretty sure there is a glitch in the Amazon listing procedure at the moment. I am trying to list an established brand / product and I am getting the same error.

I am only 1 month into my Amazon FBA journey and although excited by it, am getting confused by a couple of things, which I hope somebody here will be able to help with ?

I have a GS1 account in my Limited Company name and have created a barcode for a future product (which is produced in China generically) I wish to list. If I choose a “brand name” on GS1 and then use that same brand name in the Product Listing in Seller Central I get an error as it is not listed in the Brand Registry - as I dont want to wait 3 months and get a proper registered trademark.

If I put the brand as N/A on the GS1 form and the same in my product listing and choose EAN and enter my 13 digit barcode number, it still errors…

What I dont understand is how every other listing in my category, all of my competitors have a brand name listed - mainly Chinese users - and I would be surprised if each of the brand names used is a proper registered trademark.

I guess I could apply for a GTIN exemption and go with Generic in the brand - but that without my own barcode would leave me open for “hijackers” to jump on my listing with the same product…

Any help and advice, greatly appreciated !
Thanks
DP
