Christmas 2018 sales

How has it been for everyone?

I am pleased, I had my full amount of FBA units at Amazon and I aimed for and I managed to finish all my orders off after I put my account on holiday with a day to spare.

I am closed over Christmas because it saves issues.

How has your time been?

From just a few days before xmas to just after boxing day we where getting 1-2 sales a day which was laughably bad compared to past years. Overall looks like we have done half of the sales we did last year, so not a great year but still not awful.

December is always my worst month of the year but 168% up on Dec last year & 450% up on this week last year.

We were up 40% on last year. Mainly because after 4 Christmases on FBA we knew to stock up well in advance. We were sending FBA stock in for Christmas from August onwards. It still wasn’t enough. Then Amazon lost 25 consignments sent around 10 December. 1000+ units. We are now out of stock on over 50% of FBA inventory. Ouch.

Still 40% up despite the lost inventory isn’t bad.

I have 2 resolutions for Amazon next year. I will do more FBA less FBM and I will not worry about storage fees. I will ignore LTSF totally. Stress free life!

@Annie_C do you find the additional cost of FBA to be worth it all. I know our items would do well but I am really worried about Amazon refunding for no good reason and no return and also all the lost stuff?

i done very very well over the period though i am suffering just now, the past couple of weeks have been dire but i expect that as i am in the gift market. Throw on top of that the usual returns and allegedly not received/damaged and i guess i am still well ahead of the game and up on last year so cant complain

just hope things pick up and get back to norma – if there is such a thing on amazon as normal

Hi

Christmas was good, it took a year of building up my stock, and realising what my customers wanted to buy, I don,t do Prime , however aim to dispatch on the day of order, during office hours.

Sales have dropped off considerable now which has its advantages, only working half a day today, I have been working 12 hour days.

@Kitty We offer all our items MFN too, at the same price. It’s rare to sell a product MFN when it’s in stock on FBA.

We started three weeks ago too. Already had 160 orders. Since beginning of January it has slowed down to one or two orders per day, but we have some seasonal lines which won’t start to sell again until end of February. We are already planning new lines which are not as seasonal… but we are happy with our first month on Amazon.
