Well it’s a little comforting to know we are not the only ones but its still extremely frustrating. Takes up so much time having to deal with them all too not to mention the losses lol.

Hope it gets better for you all. Fingers crossed!

The thing is.

How do you KNOW it is the Royal Mail.

I have had several spates of INRs.

All sub £10 DVDs.

Out of interest, your INRs, what value were they ?

Did the customer send you an angry generic email that did not specify the nature of the purchase.

Did the customer bother to thank you for your quick response and refund …

I would bet my mortgage it isnt Royal Mail but fraudulent claims by your buyers.

I have been selling books for ten years all over the world and have only had 2 items not arrive. Both handled by the same London sorting office and I believe the culprit was an employee.

Now book buyers are an honest bunch by and large, if you are selling items aimed at the young, make up DVD’s etc then you are, unfortunately, more likely to get scammed.

The only way to stamp this out is for every seller to report each INR to the Royal Mail with the name and address of the buyer. They DO investigate multiple claims and will soon jump on people doing it too often.

If nobody reports them, they will continue to get away with it.

A lot of ebay sellers are sending a polite email to the buyer following an INR stating that they are reporting the matter to Royal Mail to see if there is a problem in the buyers area, this normally results in the item miraculously turning up within 48 hours. Try it

What’s weird in my case is that only a handful of low value items have been delayed/lost but higher value has been a nightmare.

This month I’ve had 3 Special Deliveries arrive late (one of them 8 days pat due date), 2 Signed For arrived late with a further 11 unaccounted for (6 of these refunded) and 3 International Tracked showing in transit past arrival dates.

Thankfully only 2 of these are Amazon orders but I don’t think it is fair that ‘Item not Received’ are held against us in the metrics. Personally I refund/resend depending on the preference of the customer but I do my bit and process orders within the timeframes of my listings.

In our case it is 100% Royal Mail. One in 5 of our 24 hour deliveries are failing sometimes up to 6 days late. Some 48’s are taking 10 days - complete nightmare. All are reaching their destination eventually but by that time the customer is having a screaming fit. Since the beginning of November this is the worse Royal Mail experience we’ve had in the last 20 years.

We use Roya Mail’s Tracked 48 and Tracked 24 services, hundreds of parcels every week and I think we have lost 2 parcels this year, we use DHL for Express send less than 20 a week and have a problem most weeks

We used to get loads of INR’s. As soon as we sent everything signed for it stopped, we get the odd few now but it’s usually because the customer hasn’t seen the card that was left for them, we get them back here eventually.

This year it seems to be worse than last. Royal Mail provide very good service, I do not remember the last time we had to refund/investigate a parcel sent with Royal Mail as lost, only Large Letters from time to time. Hermes lose parcels much more often despite being fully tracked.
