Book Seller Retiring :

Hi everyone. Now thinking of retirement from my Amazon book business shortly I have around 11500 books. Multiple category’s Around 50% new, the rest mostly like new. Value around £120K Amazon Retail. If any book sellers are interested, please contact me? Would be interested in the forum’s comments. Not sure how you will find me? However, It’s been mentioned before that it’s possible.

Unfortunately that value is pretty meaningless, since the books which you have as new, presumably from a verifed source, will no longer be Amazon new with a verifiable invoice if you sell them to another party.
You will be lucky to get a fraction of that amount if you are lucky enough to find a buyer for your stock.

I don’t see why not, as long as there’s something in it for them - the buying bookseller.

Have you tried Facebook groups for Amazon sellers/ booksellers?

Because I don’t think that this is the right place where to advertise items for sale.

Anyone interested can send you a private message which will be highlighted top right of this page and also by email, normally a link to your storefront is useful in your reply so potential buyers can make a judgement on your stocks resale value and offer?

Another option is to list on ebay aucton (with a reserve) and collection?

You could of course simply slash your prices and have a busy few months, then auction off what’s left?

If you want to dispose of the stock quickly, you could put them into auction as job lots, but don’t expect to get much for them. Amazon’s retail value in no way reflects the true ‘value’ of the stock; it is a theoretical value only. If the stock is mainly new/recently published mainstream titles a ‘value’ of about £10.00 per volume is excessive; a more realistic valuation to another seller would be £1 per volume at most, probably a lot less. Sadly, most modern books depreciate very fast indeed.

Any kind of theme or specialist subject to your stock? If so, it may be worth contacting similar specialist booksellers for ideas or offers. I imagine that a mixed general stock would be harder to sell.

What kind of quantities of the new books do you have? Are they all ones and twos or do you have large stocks of individual titles? If large stocks then perhaps talk to a remainder dealer though obviously the price you get will be low.

The second hand books will likely be hard to shift at a good price. Unless of course you have anything truly collectable which could be worth sending to auction either individually or in lots.

the alternative to selling wholesale at a major discount is having a retail clearance sale.

Maybe make more that way?
