Customer sends back his worn old trainers

Hello

I’ve got a customer who sent me back his old smelly trainers instead of the brand new one’s I sent him. It’s not even the same trainer.

Originally the customer opened a return because the parcel was late. It wasn’t late, but I accepted the return because it was inside the 30 day return period and he only had the trainers for a day or two.

The day I received the trainers back, he left negative feedback on my account, saying where’s his refund and he thinks the trainers are worn and wanting a new pair to be sent out too him.

This is such a strange thing to do, I’ve never received feedback like it before.

So I’ve inspected the return parcel and the customer has sent me his old smelly pair of trainers back. Not even the same style.

What’s the best thing to do now? Customer has left me negative feedback which I can’t do anything with. I’ve message Amazon about this situation and I’m still waiting to hear back from them.

Most likely thing is the customer will open an A to Z case against me.

Look forward to your replies
Dan

I am sorry to hear that this happened.

To remain covered against a potential A-Z claim, I would advise you to message the buyer explaining why you can’t refund them, attaching a photo of what you received and asking them to provide you a pre-paid return label so you can send them their old item back.

In case of an A-Z claim, you will be able to let Amazon know what happened.

Also, you could report the buyer by e-mailing suspect-abuse@amazon.com.

Sounds like you a subject to a scammer. Pass the information to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau Or Crimestoppers. They need to be tough of crime on the platform.

We get this type of return on a regular basis with delivery bags. Just keep photographic evidence of it all, send it to Amazon by opening a case and Amazon should refund you. We often call the customer and nearly all deny it.

Report this Buyer to ‘Action Fraud’, if there are other reports against this Buyer at the address the Police may take action.

@Pouchypow - that smells awful - hope you survived your “inspection” yuck

Was it SFP ? can you not just partial refund £0.01. I think that route has been mentioned before in other posts. Then if the buyer puts in a claim - you can file a Safe-T

A letter addressed to the Cheif Constable of which ever Constabulary your “valued” customer is based. This is not a civil matter , but a criminal one. There is an attempt / to gain property by deception and/ or theft if the customer makes and A to Z claim.

I would also send a copy of the letter addressed to the Cheif Constable of your own police force. We had a case several years ago , not on Amazon but our own site where a stolen credit card was used. We fulfilled the order, the delivery company delivered it and got the signature ( it was the only delivery that day on that courier van) and 10 minutes later another 2 vans pulled up and a gentleman got out of a parked car and walked up to the door, and when answered presented the occupant with a search warrant.
The police removed literally thousands of pounds of good obtained by deception.

The likely hood is this person will be pulling numerous scams. Sometimes it takes someone to stand up and be counted.

I had the same problem a few weeks back, customer had kept the new shiny shaver and sent back his old grotty one. In all fairness I contacted SS and sent photos and explained and they reimbursed me and said they would investigate,

I was shocked when I opened opened the box, couldn’t believe what some people will try and get away with, SHOCKING!

The scum of the earth purchase their goodies on line (though some still steal from B & M shops), this is what we sign up for and need to deal with objectively without letting it cause any stress whatsoever…

Hence the person that wanted to return an inexpensive eyeliner, and did so, saying the Quality was not Acceptable, received a very polite email response stating that as the item was approx 5" when sent out new and returned was 1" approx there would be no refund.

So sorry to hear that. This is very very frustrating and stressful

Most of sellers on Amazon and eBay operate on such small margin profits that serious incidents as such can wipe out all profits for days or even weeks of trading.

The Scammers are learning and doing it to everyone. We supplied a top brand HiFi system with next to nothing profit due to competition, after the weekend, we had a message that CD doesn’t work. We knew immediately that it is not possible. So we advised some remedies and offered them to contact us if failed to give return authorisation . Next minute she put a nasty negative feedback and wrote again , suggesting that we were ''bullying ‘’ , this time she said we have to arrange collection and full refund or !.
Item was collected at a high cost, came back yesterday, it was just dumped in a box , all accessories missing, still working perfectly, but there was even dried up drinks and sticky stuff on it . Loads of scratches . Hear Breaking.
We refunded her 50% and are now waiting for the A-Z claim :frowning:
So difficult.
