Brand on Amazon and EAN code for product
Dear all, thank you for being a part of Seller Forum. Extremely helpful for newbies like me.
Here’s my biggest confusion so far and I will appreciate your help very much!
I am currently selling one SNL product on FBA, so far so good. I am in the process of negotiating/ordering a 2nd product.
I have purchased GTIN barcodes from GS1. When I am going to create a listing for my 2nd product on Amazon, it will ask me for a brand name. I would like to be able to put a brand name in there, for example, “My thing”. But I know that Amazon will ask me to put an associated EAN/ UPC number.
The last time I tried it, they said it doesn’t correspond etc so I ended up putting “Generic” in my brand name and applied for GTIN exemption which came through very quickly.
My confusion is this. How do I make sure that the EAN that I have is accepted by Amazon? I sell in the UK and to the UK customers only. I understood I do not need to apply for trademark in the UK. I just need to make sure my logo is on a product or packaging and send that photo to Amazon.
Is that enough for me to creating that listing and to be able to have “My thing” and not “Generic” under Brand on my listing?
Totally confused.
Thank you so much.

yep - thats what you need to do to use your own Brand Name as brand approval
same principle as brand registry - but without the trademark
you’ll still need the name on the product though and brand approval doesn’t give you a Branded storefront, A+ content or the ability to ‘protect’ your listing from other sellers as Brand Registry would with a Trademark
The EAN on would also need to be registered to that Brand Name on GS1 to match
