Charged for Business Account?
Hi,
I have just opened an Amazon Account. I am not a business and I didn’t want a “Business Account”. I made that clear in my ID check call this morning.
My Account isn’t even active yet and I immediately spotted the issue and downgraded (being reviewed by Amazon).
YET Amazon has decided to charge me £30 for a Business Account which I clearly didn’t want, didn’t click and made clear to support.
How do I contact someone to get a refund on this charge?
Thanks

There are two types of account - individual and business / professional. The former is for people selling their own personal items and the latter is for businesses of whatever type - ltd companies, sole traders etc. Neither of them incur a monthly fee.
Then there are two types of selling plan - individual and professional. Aside from some other differences, the former incurs an extra fee per item sold, the latter a monthly fee of £25 plus VAT. Either account type can have either type of selling plan.
You have downgraded your selling plan which is good as that will prevent the charge next month. You can contact Support (top right of Seller Central) to request a refund.
Do make sure your understanding of being a business is correct though. I know it sounds basic but a lot of new sellers don’t think they are a business when they are. If you are buying items with the intent to sell than you must be registered with Amazon as a business and have the correct account type - the selling plan doesn’t matter.

As above reply, the £30 charge is for the Professional SELLING PLAN, not a Business Account (which costs nothing).
To downgrade the selling plan go to Settings - Account Info - Your services - Manage - and downgrade from Professional to Individual.
When you say you are not a business - are you simply wanting to sell off your own personal secondhand items, such as books, DVDs CDs etc ?
If not, and you intend to buy any items to sell on for profit, then you ARE a business and need to have a Business Seller account on Amazon and be registered with HMRC as self-employed (probably sole-trader) if just you.

Everyone.
Your help is much appreciated and it all makes sense now.
You can contact Support (top right of Seller Central) to request a refund.
I am going to ask a silly question. In my top right corner is “Help” which takes me to Seller forms (here), case logs (irrelevant) but the middle option does not allow me to contact support.
I want to contact support, give them the background and ask for a refund, any ideas how do I contact support?
Thanks

Thank You everyone, I have opened a case for Amazon to look at the deductions and issue a refund. Lets see what happens.
