Uncollected item

Any advice appreciated - Last week received an expedited order which was posted same day. Royal Mail tracking shows delivery attempted next day but nobody in. ‘Something for you’ card left and packet returned to depot to await further instructions. So far customer has not collected or arranged a redelivery. I am wondering how this is going to pan out. I assume that the order was for Christmas and the customer will eventually say they want a refund as item not received. Online tracking confirms what has happened and was entered at time of dispatch. What will happen if the customer does not collect and how much and when do I refund. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Whenever this happens to me and the package eventually gets returned back, I refund the full product price + Standard delivery cost. Expedited delivery is an extra service selected by the buyer at checkout and I don’t refund it.

The buyers then occasionally open A-Z claims for the remaining amount but I am always able to have them denied.

Just be careful, I lost an A-Z in exactly those circumstances because they didnt go and collect it so filed for non receipt, despite tracking showing exactly where it was and what had happened.
