Problem with return, I was poisoned
by Seller_ofkaq656XneBp

Today I received a return (FBA transaction) the package was not checked and opened by the Amazon return department and when I opened it I felt a strong corrosive smell that irritated my throat. I went to the GP and he was unable to help me and recommended that I contact the buyer to ask what he put in the box, but the buyer did not answer my question. I spent 3 hours explaining the matter with Amazon, but the help from Amazon is hopeless, no one was able to help me. Still I feel terrible. The liquid that was in the box was definitely not bioethanol because bioethanol has no smell (I have been selling boxes intended for bioethanol for 15 years and I know that the liquid has no smell). The buyer destroyed the product because he used a prohibited liquid, it exposed me to health damage and I don't know what to do next.

Saying one thing and doing another
by Seller_4uKIP5ARPyO4W

I had an Amazon claim which was fair enough non-delivery which was a Royal mail non-delivery.

I bought my postage through Amazon

On the claim it states

Why did we grant the A-to-z guarantee claim?

The customer claimed an issue with delivery. Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee covered the cost of this claim on your behalf because you used Amazon’s Buy Shipping and the customer issue was outside your control.

Looked at my account and I was charged for the item, contacted help and they said

A-to-z Claim Status: Granted

A-to-z Claim Reason: Package didn't arrive

Seller-funded: Feb 11

This claim is funded by you but does not impact your Order Defect Rate (ODR). It may take up to three days for the claim to be removed from your ODR.

Learn more about how A-to-z Claims impact ODR here: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/G200285170?referral=A22ZJE86GJH8RH_A180ZG259MLBLA

any ideas please

If you list items as 'NEW' then Amazon assume that you are buying goods to sell on for profit, and that makes you required to register as a sole-trader, and with HMRC as such.

The individual seller account is ONLY for selling off your own, personal second-hand items eg. books, CDs,DVDs etc, and you cannot sell NEW items.

The other thing is, you will not be able to close your account until it has been fully verified and is active - you cannot close a deactivated account.

Amazon is still not charging customers correctly for returns labels leading to incorrect reimbursement to sellers:

"The following shipping cost table outlines the estimated shipping costs for UK seller-fulfilled returns.

We reserve the right to adjust charges after they are initially posted, to reflect adjustments by the applicable carrier or other service provider.

Weight Carrier Shipping cost (excluding VAT)

Up to 2 kg Royal Mail £2.79

0–15 kg Hermes £2.73

To know more about Shipping costs for seller-fulfilled returns, Please refer to the below mentioned Help Page:

https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G202103400"

No-one at seller support seems to understand. If a price is quoted (excluding VAT) this does not mean that VAT should not be added!!!

I have been banging on about this since October. It's small sums of money but if this is widespread just how much is Amazon withholding from sellers?

If any mod is interested, yet another case raised under ID 10758810902.

Welcome to the Forums!

This is Sarah from Amazon.

I've consulted with our partner team, and according to their records, you are already enrolled in PA+.

Could you please confirm?

Kind regards,

Trying to add information to a listing
by Seller_6GUUJQEDEB5Jz

Thanks for your interest, Ezra. I haven't yet contacted Seller Support as when I contacted them over a previous product a couple of years ago all I got was algorthmic replies which did not address my question. The product is ISBN 978 1 83654 021 2. This is what appears on an Amazon search: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1836540213/ref=ox_sc_act_title_delete_1?smid=AE83NNQK4XG9S&psc=1.

I want to add product information and ensure it comes up when the title of the product (Madder Music, Stronger Wine) is entered into a search engine. At the moment what I get is previous incarnations of this book dating from 2000. The one I am sellign here is a new edition.

Best, Jad

Hi All

I received an email re Vat reg & replied to say that I am UK based as is the business and I have not turned over any revenue as yet as I'm a brand new FBA seller. Is it correct that I must be Vat registered from day one to sell on Amazon regardless of the Gov.uk guidelines clearly stating the £90k threshold? HELP!

The email i received below when I replied to the initial Vat Reg email to say that I am UK based as is the business and I have not turned over any revenue as yet as I'm a brand new FBA seller Jan 2025.

Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

Good day! This is Rama, and I hope this email finds you well.

I understand your concern with the email you have received regarding VAT registration in the United Kingdom.

Please be informed that, Under UK VAT legislation, if you are selling or intending to sell in the UK, you will need to register for UK VAT, and Amazon will be required to verify the validity of your registration.

Once you place inventory in the UK, you will be required to be VAT-registered and to upload your UK VAT number to Seller Central within 90 days.

As of August 1, 2024, all Selling on Amazon, Fulfilment by Amazon and other services previously provided by Amazon Services Europe S.à r.l. (ASE) are supplied by Amazon EU S.à r.l. (AEU). If your company is established in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium or Sweden, you will be invoiced by the AEU branch in your country of establishment.

As invoices are no longer issued from ASE in Luxembourg, B2B reverse charges will no longer apply if your company is established in a country where AEU has a branch. If your company is established in the UK and is recognised as a taxable person by applying for the VAT exemption programme, you will also be invoiced from your local AEU branch and charged UK VAT on fees where applicable.

Due to these updates, Amazon is pausing the acceptance of any new applications for the VAT exemption programme until further notice. Please be aware that applying for this programme will no longer allow you to receive invoices with 0% VAT on your Amazon seller fees going forward if you are established in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium or Sweden.

For more information, go to "Update to Amazon UK and EU seller services entity and VAT treatment":

For further information, please refer to below help page:

VAT requirements in the UK – Registration process:

We wish you a great day!

Pricing Error: Listed my £599 product at £10 for 1 minute (in order to see difference in amazon fees).

I do sympathise, but fundamentally this is a user error and not an Amazon-caused pricing error which is a different kettle of fish (eg when their repricing algo went a bit crazy last year and dropped a lot of prices).

There are many tables for calculating fees of all kinds, or the offer could have been closed before changing to such a low price-point.

Pedantic, but the root cause is not an Amazon problem. Nor can we really cry foul about bots buying the inventory, that's a hard thing to prove as there are entire communities of humans who monitor the site 24/7 looking for bargains and quickly posting when they find prices below usual sellings (eg look at HUKD / Pepper - 2.6m users and 2.8m 'deals' shared, 2m followers on socials). Even if it could be proven that bots were scraping pages for pricing errors, Amazon are not going to take action as a sale is a sale in their eyes.

If there was an assurance Support would cancel the orders, that's something to take them up on. Sounds like that part has failed which is a pity.

Hi

After creating the shipment for DGs with UPS as the non partnered carrier, I called UPS to get a quote before finalising the shipment. The UPS representative advised that I would need some form of document as its a DG shipment.

I am shipping aftershave and air purifier spray.

Can anyone help as to whether I would need documents to ship with UPS?

Also is UPS the best carrier for DG?
