What is Error 5461?

This error appears when you attempt to create a new ASIN but don't yet have approval to list products for that specific brand, even if you have a valid GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) from GS1.

How to Resolve Error 5461?

1. Submit a Brand Approval Application

Your first step is to submit a brand approval application through Seller Central. Here's what you'll need:

  • Exact brand name as it appears on the product
  • Product identifier (UPC, EAN, ISBN, or JAN)
  • Clear, high-quality images showing:

-> The product

-> Product packaging

-> Brand name

_> Barcode

2. For Brand Owners

If you own the brand, make sure your Brand Registry account is properly linked to your Seller Central account. This connection helps streamline the approval process.

3. Wait for Approval

After submitting your application:

  • Processing typically takes up to 24 hours
  • Once approved, you can begin creating new listings for the brand
  • Keep checking your Seller Central notifications for updates

  • Always check if the product already exists in Amazon's catalog before creating a new ASIN
  • Double-check that your product identifiers match the GS1 database

VAT establishment verification

Hello everyone,

My account has been deactivated for 3 months now due Amazon not able to verify that I am UK established. I have submitted different requested and necessary documents many timesto prove my UK establishment but nothing has changed yet with deactivation status. All funds and inventory had been withheld since then too.

Any advice or way out of this will be really appreciated.

Please @forum moderators @sarah, @Julia and others please help as I have recently been given an estimation of a preliminary VAT charges of roughly £17,000 which shouldn't be because I am UK established and a small business that has never reached the threshold of registering for a VAT.

Bank account varification took 4 months now

I have been experiencing a bank account verification issue for over four months, and unfortunately, I have not received any payments during this period. Several support cases have been opened regarding this matter:

Hello.

Another FBA seller is supplying a different version (UPC/EAN, model no. & language) of a product than described in the the listing. I understand is against this policy Matching product offerings inaccurately https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/G200386250

I have verified this with a test order.

I sell the correct product under this listing. The other seller appears to be undercutting me with the wrong item, which they also sell in addition under the correct ASIN.

I reported the violation but got the following message:

"Thank you for your report of a suspected policy violation. We cannot take action on the report as no violation has been identified on the reported Bxxxxxxx for the violation type selected."

Help appreciated.

I am reaching out regarding my brand, Costanzo Enrico, which is a registered trademark. While the registered trademark was initially submitted as CE Costanzo Enrico Collezioni (which included an emblem and slogan which was incorrect), all our products, packaging, and marketing materials display only the name Costanzo Enrico. This is the correct and intended public-facing brand name.

Unfortunately, my listings are still showing the full name, CE Costanzo Enrico Collezioni, causing a conflict when I attempt to edit or update ASINs. This inconsistency is impacting the integrity of my brand presentation.

I’ve raised this issue previously, including in Case ID: 11218240712, but have received mixed responses—some indicating it will be resolved, and others suggesting it's not possible. I feel like I’ve been going in circles and would greatly appreciate your support in resolving this properly.

To clarify: I am not requesting a change to the trademark itself, but rather the brand display name to appear as Costanzo Enrico, which accurately reflects how our customers recognize the brand—similar to how "Nike" is used, not "Nike Just Do It."

Please let me know what documentation or steps are needed to make this adjustment.

Hi there,

I recently received a negative feedback stating: "Package did not arrive. Refund received."However, the parcel was dispatched on time, I closely monitored the delivery, raised a ticket with Evri, and issued a full refund as soon as it was confirmed lost.

I contacted Amazon to review the feedback, as the issue was entirely out of my control, but unfortunately they weren’t able to assist. I’m now reaching out here in case someone may be able to help with having it removed.

i add the Barcode and i click on the item when i try to edit the title to be seo friendly and other stuff it says to create an offer and bangs on about gt1 i just want to create my own listing as i do on other platforms but on here seem like a massives pain

Hello,

We've had a brand registry application (case id: 17876170571) rejected for the reason flagged below in bold.

I don't understand how we can have our trademark approved by the UK trademark office, however, Amazon still rejects it, and doesn't give any clear reason why outside the below (which is so vague).

This essentially stops us from being able to sell the product as we can't create A+, protect the brand etc.

From looking on forums, this appears to be a fairly common issue, and I believe that for newer brands, we need clear guidance on how to manage this as the Amazon flywheel relies on new products/brands being onboarded, and surely the point of us having to have an approved trademark with a relevant office (e.g. UK or EU ones) is done to ensure the authorities are happy our brands don't intellectually violate anyone else.

Please advise on the potential next steps here

The reason given is 'we are unable to approve your Brand Registry application because the trademark on the application either violates the intellectual property rights of others and/or is highly likely to be confused by customers for an established brand.'

Buyer taking advantage of the business

Please do advise me what I should be doing in this situation.

Buyer ordered an item and instantly claimed I sent him an empty box, which of course I wouldn't do.

I refunded him as to avoid all of the unnecessary messaging and explanations over a small order. Usually they go away.

He ordered it instantly again.

I cancelled the order.

He ordered it again.

Obviously I can't keep sending him free items (of course he will ask for a refund again).

Obviously I cannot keep canceling the orders because that affects the account.

Now what? 😅
